Learning to play, young and old

Noah loves the chess classes and always turns up bursting with enthusiasm. Since he started he hasn't just learned strategies and improved his concentration, he's found an activity he genuinely enjoys. We'd recommend it to any family looking for an enriching, fun after-school activity: it helps develop logical thinking, patience, memory and decision-making.

Chess taught me to develop my pieces better, to learn stronger tactics and to control the whole board, not just one part. It also taught me to make decisions and to use my mind, thinking through every move.

At Club d'Escacs Sant Cugat I've learned that every pawn can become a queen if it's patient, and that however hard a game may look, there's always a move waiting to be found if you think calmly.

Sergi is delighted with chess. He goes along really happily and never misses a class! He says he has a great time in the lessons and can see his own progress. It makes me smile when he sometimes compares everyday situations to a game of chess. I think it's giving him confidence and tools to navigate life. As a family, we're delighted with this club: the human side is excellent, and they pass on a love and passion for chess that's contagious. We can only say thank you for helping us step into this world.

As well as learning, I have a really good time.
